Salises for Oiliness Control and Acneic Tendency

4 min read

Acne is a pathology typically associated with adolescence, but which increasingly extends over time, affecting a growing number of people in adulthood as well. This pathology affects the pilosebaceous follicle, and has an underlying complex pathological process that depends on the interaction of several factors. For this reason, we have formulated the Salises range with multi-focus active ingredients to ensure a comprehensive and effective approach to the condition.

To better understand the action of the active ingredients we include in Salises, it is important to remember the pathophysiology of this skin condition and the main changes compared with healthy skin:

  • Quantitative and qualitative changes in sebum: in acne, there is an increase in sebum production, mainly due to hormonal influence. In addition to an increased production of sebum, it undergoes changes in its composition that make it more viscous, thicker, and more comedogenic, favoring its retention in the pilosebaceous follicle. These qualitative changes in sebum also mean that it no longer contributes to the formation of the hydrolipidic mantle, compromising the skin's barrier function and favoring cutaneous dehydration.
  • Obstruction of the pilosebaceous follicle: caused by hyperkeratinization phenomena in the follicular canal. There is an accumulation of dead cells in the opening area of the pilosebaceous follicle that cause the retention of the sebum produced in the sebaceous gland.
  • Colonization and proliferation of Cutibacterium acnes: this bacterium finds favorable conditions for its multiplication in the sebum accumulated in the hair follicle.
  • Release of inflammatory factors: The presence of C. acnes triggers an immune response with release of several inflammatory mediators.

THE ADVANTAGES OF SALICYLIC ACID IN ACNE

Salises

Salicylic acid is a particularly interesting active principle in the prevention and treatment of acne, since this beta hydroxy acid has seborregulating, kerato- and comedolytic, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, acting on the main factors involved in this pathology. In addition, being a beta hydroxy acid it is liposoluble, i.e., it has a high affinity for fat, having an excellent penetration profile in especially oily skin.

It should also be noted that this is an active that is not photosensitizing and can be used even in the day routine, not exempting, however, as in any routine, the use of sunscreen, which in this case, should be non-comedogenic - such as REPASKIN SEDA SPF50.

WHAT DIFFERENTIATES SALISES FROM OTHER RANGES WITH SALICYLIC ACID?

The differentiating factor behind the effectiveness of the Salises range is nanotechnology - the range is formulated with both free and liposomal salicylic acid, thus ensuring that this active ingredient exerts its actions at the level of the different target cells in excellent concentrations, to guarantee the best results.

Free salicylic acid, at a superficial level, exerts keratolytic and comedolytic effects, preventing and reducing acne imperfections.

In depth, the liposomed salicylic acid will exert seborregulatory (close to the sebaceous glands), anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial actions.

Nanotechnology, besides promoting the actions of the actives in depth, will reinforce the anti-inflammatory and antibacterial power of the range, as well as favoring the normalization of the lipid profile of the skin with reinforcement of the barrier function, due to the content in linoleic acid of the phospholipids of soy lecithin that constitute the liposomes.

In this way, we act at different levels of the skin, responding in a very complete way to the typical alterations associated with acne, and with excellent tolerance.
