Sun damages are cumulative and its effects may appear up to 20 to 30 years after the first sun exposures: dark spots, deep wrinkles, dry skin, dark circles under eyes….
Besides the Sun, skin ageing and hereditary factors are among the main factors to influence the skin0s pigmentation. These elements may deregulate the melanin productions mechanisms, resulting in an uneven distribution accumulated on the surface of the skin.
As all spots don’t have the same origin, they aren’t all equal either:
- Lentigines or liver spots: are a natural consequence of the skin’s ageing process;
- Actinic Lentigines: are the result of excessive and regular sun exposure;

There are two different types of dark circles:superficial vascularization, when the blood vessels are on the surface of the skin and give a bluish tone; concentrated pigmentation of the skin, as a consequence of sun exposure that activates the production of melanin around the eyes, making this area dark and brown.
