AZELAIC ACID

Azelaic acid is derived from barley, wheat and rye, and is also produced naturally by the yeast (Malassezia fur fur, also known as Pityrosporum ovale) that is part of normal skin flora. It's a reliable and effective ingredient, which is why it has become more popular in recent years. By encouraging cell turnover, it can minimize the look of scars and skin breakouts - it's a good ingredient for Rosacea; Due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties, azelaic acid is generally used to treat acne, by reducing inflammation; and also can prevent hyperpigmentation (interfering with the melanin production) by being a tyrosinase inhibitor.
