HYALURONIC ACID
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a non-sulfated glycosaminoglycan that naturally occurs and is distributed around the connective, epithelial and neural tissues, but as we get older the production of this vital molecule decreases. HA occurs naturally in your body to regulate and retain moisture levels within your cells. This molecule gives you a healthier, plumper and firmer complexion when used regularly thanks to its water-retaining capacity and restorative properties. Perhaps the term transepidermal water loss (TEWL) may be familiar, and is the scientific term for the measurement of how much water is evaporated from the skin. When a product prevents TEWL, it means that it’s keeping your skin hydrated by making sure that water doesn’t escape from your skin’s surface. Hyaluronic acid does exactly that by slowing the rate at which the water evaporates.
